Didn't want to hijack the excellent Mercs thread, but there's this:

Ummm the Kahr 9 is less than 1" thick, as is a my Kahr .40

I tried to pocket carry the MK9. It wasn't bad, though I'd agree on the "kinda blocky" review. :p

However.

The reason I tracked down a CS9, am carefully reading the Mercs thread, and have given Tercsgen $$ is not because of a comparison between the CS9 and the MK9.

It's because the MK9 spare magazines spit out rounds into the mag pockets of my 5.11 Covert Cargo pants. I would find two, three, four rounds lying loose in the bottom of the mag pocket every day.

The spare mags for my 3913, the current pocket choice (but decidedly large), do not have that problem. Thus the changeover....:D

Could not agree more, this is my exact experience with the Kahr mags. I sold off most of my Kahrs for this very reason, but still keep one MK9 as a backup gun. Sure, it's smaller than a CS9 and has a great DA trigger, but the grip is almost too small and I do worry that in a stressful defensive situation it may cause issues.

I find the CS9 to be a perfect sub-compact size all-around, plus I love the safety options of a S&W TDA gun.

In fairness, I never had a problem with the Kahr mags when carried in a typical OWB mag carrier.

But that sort of defeats the purpose of the "pocket pistol."

If it's going to be "smallish OWB," then that's what the 3913 is for.

I've had the issue with Kahr 9mm mags in OWB carriers, though usually only the top round comes out. Sometimes the top round is almost out, and removing the mag from the carrier makes it go flying across the room, which is always awesome.

Never had an issue with the .40 cal Kahr mags, but my K40 chews up live rounds ejected from the chamber, and still packs a wallop with recoil despite being an all-steel pistol. I find that my 4040PD and 4013 pre-TSW both handle the recoil of the .40 cal much better.

Second all these points. Never to at most once lost .40 cartridge.
Occasionally would lose the top one or two rounds of an extended length 9mm magazine in pocket carry. I used an Uncle Mikes pocket holster for the spare mg carry on weak side- it seemed to work well.

Had a fun episode this afternoon. Our daughter is going to take a basic handgun course next month. She's shot with me a few times but I want someone much more qualified to work with her. She came over to discuss what gun(s) to take. First I put an M&P .22 full size in her hand and she didn't seem impressed. Then an SR22 which fit her well.

Finally, just because it was easy to reach, I pulled out a CS9D that I'd unearthed, NIB, last week. I put it in her hand and she smiled. I asked her to dry fire it and she uttered, "sweet".

Proud papa. :)

My first carry gun was a Kahr CW40. I loved it so much I went out and bought a CM9 micro 9mm and a all steel K9. The all steel MK and K series are the best of the best IMHO however they are not cheap. I did sell my CM9 & CW40 because they didn't really stand up to being shot a lot. After 4-5k rounds my CW40 had such noticeable wear on it that I questioned if this thing was intended to last a lifetime or not... The K9 I traded towards a new S&W 686. That was a no brainer there.

I had a cm9, trigger was smooth as glass, but I didn’t care for the way the gun looked on the inside.... it seemed very low quality... didn’t keep it long enough to find out. I highly doubt I’ll ever sell my CS9D...
