I saw one of those on Gunbroker... I think it was maybe 2 or more years ago! Extremely cool and very early in the Performance Center.

Awesome!

Very neat pistol!

I have a Comp-40 with a serial number within 5 digits of yours with the same product code, but it's not the special edition (interesting S&W used the same product code and serial number range).

Wow Bill!! That's a real beauty, never seen one before, didn't even know they existed. Very James Bondish. Reminds me of a toy gun a had as a child. It also had the briefcase and a secret lever that allowed the gun to fire while still inside. Thanks for sharing with us!!!

Be well my friend, Bob.

I have a feeling that a .40cal Performance Center pistol may elude me. :( I'm not really interested in a Shorty40 (although, sure, I'd grab one for a song...)

The two I really want are the two-tone Tactical 40 and mostly, the 4006 Limited. The 4006 Limited seems impossible to me, mostly for self-imposed reasons.

If it isn't shooter grade, and it is priced like a mint or near mint pistol, I will never justify the expenditure. Furthermore, if it's extremely high condition, I simply won't shoot it, or shoot it enough to really enjoy getting it.

If I were to find a 4006 Limited under $2,000 then I'd eat ramen noodles for six months or I'd sell a kidney to get it. Now I have certainly had my share of good fortune in hunting for guns, but that's asking more than is likely possible.

Seek and ye shall find...

Here is another 4006 Limited, with a very significant bonus. It's a 5" gun, but I found a 6" complete slide and barrel and I bought it, not realizing until it came in that it was sold by Paul Liebenberg at Pistol Dynamics. For those unfamiliar with his work, he was the driving force and master gunsmith behind the original Performance Center. After contacting him with my idea he agreed to custom hand fit the new longer slide while maintaining the fit of the shorter one. I suspect that makes it one of a kind.

Next is a 4.25" Stocking Dealer 4006

Last but certainly not least is another somewhat special version, a 5" two-tone 4006 PC Tactical .40 bearing the logo of the National Firearms Training Center (Note the FTC prefix on the serial number) on top of the slide just aft of the front sight.
