Anyone have first hand knowledge of how many of these still exist? Heard tell they only made 10, several failed in testing and I presume where destroyed. I have seen TJC1814.

As far as I know next to the Model 44 this is the rarest cataloged S&W handgun. 4th edition says ten believe to have been built. Listed as 4506 in factory records but marked as 4503. Worth a ton of money if you come across one.

A 4503 just ended on the big auction site about a week ago.
It went for a hair over $3000.00. The listing has some correspondence between what I assume were a couple of collectors. It led me to believe there are at least two confirmed to be in circulation. If the economy was a little more stable I would have made a run at it.
