S&W PC 3rd gen work?
I’ve been thinking about sending my 4567 to the S&W Performance Center for their 3rd gen package. Can anyone who has had this comment on the typical turnaround time and whether it was worth it? $165 with shipping both ways seems pretty reasonable.

I have had zero experience with S&W service in recent years but it makes sense to put it in to the conversation for whatever they offer right now... the Performance Center as we have come to know it doesn’t exist and hasn’t since maybe 2010 or 2011.
I’m not confident in what goes on there these days.

4567 is a pretty scarce and very nice pistol. I would not send any of my guns to the "performance center".
I would send it to member BMCM instead. He does quality work. Like the now gone Performance Center gunsmiths did . Good luck. Regards 18DAI

Thanks for the info. I’ll look him up. What happened to the Performance Center?

A darn shame concerning the Performance Center. Visited S&W back around 2000. Had a nice tour of the Center also. Seems to be a sign of the times lately.

I wish I was able to send off my 3rd Gens to the real Performance Center.

From what I can see, it's moved to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.

I sent my 5906tsw in for the 3rd gen action job in the summer of 2018. It took around 10 weeks or so for them to finish the job and get it back in my hot little hands. They originally quoted me 8 to 12 weeks so they were right on target.
The actual work was ok. The pull on my 5906tsw was a little stiff (probably around 7-8 lbs) and it came back better (5.5 lbs) but not amazing. Honestly, my CHP 4006tsw came to me with a trigger as nice or nicer than my worked 5906tsw.
In contrast I sent a pair of Sig P226 pistols (a da/sa and an sao) to Robert Burke and he sent them back with lighter, smoother, amazing triggers.
If I were going to get another trigger job, I’d probably go to BMCM or an older established shop like Novak. I don’t think I’d use the PC again.

I appreciate the information. My 4567 has a pretty good trigger pull (it does have the infamous click in SA pull but it’s not that bad), so maybe I’ll skip having S&W do any work on it if it doesn’t really have a huge impact or have someone else do the work.

I had/have at least 10 D/A PC pistols, over the years all from 98-2005, while the guns were marvelous, none had very good triggers, in my opinion. I never requested any action work be done, I thought as PC guns they would come that way. Luckily I could do what I wanted. Now days who knows. From what I have seen here, and testimony of others, I would send it BMCM. You will never get that type of pride in workmanship from S/W, especially these days. Just my 2 cents.

MattB, I sent my 4566 to BMCM (Bill) to replace the trigger play spring that was causing trigger click, and I asked him to tune up the trigger as well while he had the gun at his shop.
When it came back, the trigger was silky. It's not a difficult or expensive job for him, but it made a world of difference to me and my perception of the gun I owned, just knowing that it had been in the hands of a master craftsman and was now operating at the peak of its design.
It didn't take him very long, either.
