Custom case for my S&W 41 - Carolina Custom Foam review

Hi all, wanted to share a new pistol case I made for myself.

I've been needing a new case for my S&W 41, but there is absolutely nothing out there that fit the bill for what I wanted, so I made it myself.

After looking and coming up empty on local materials, I contacted Peter over at Carolina Custom foam - asked a few questions through email and placed my order for some foam sheets. Very helpful guy, answered my questions and shipped the next day.

This stuff is nice. Very nice. Dense, but not hard. Cuts like a dream on my laser cutter. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks! The cutter I have is a Epilog Helix 45w model, had it for quite a few years now. I just tried foam cutting on a whim... really did a bang up job. I was impressed.

I'm gonna try a few more experiments with it - I wanted to try some of the 2mm colored foam - I think I could do some logo design and inlay with that(like the S&W logo); maybe on the top piece of foam on the lid of the case or something.

I figure it'll be fun to try and see what the limits are anyway.

Thanks! I've really enjoyed my cutter over the years, done quite a lot with it. I always find myself "outside the box" with tools I guess. Well... my wife puts up with my mad science experiments so I guess it's OK

I’ve been looking at inexpensive foam cutter than operates on resistance. Just like a soldering gun. Hobby grade tool but should work well enough for me. OPs foam job looks factory done.
41 with brake just fits in sone S&W cases for 6” Ns. Would be nice to have cut out foam for bottom section. Found a Taurus that case is nice for a 52. Need to extend horizontal cut for two more mags.
Need to find some better system. Some think it eccentric to buy Taurus pistols just to get cases. What they don’t take into consideration is the extra layer of security it gives your S&Ws. No
self respecting burglar who steal Taurus.
