Purpose of holes drilled in trigger guard?

Was browsing gunbroker and came across a 4006. Looking at the pictures and I noticed that it has 2 holes drilled in the trigger guard.

Does anyone have any idea why someone would have drilled 2 holes like this? Some sort of old school weapon light mounting?

Ugh!

Lightening cuts? (add the sarcasm as you may…)

Seriously, that’s like defacing a Classic 3rd. Generation.
I’ve never seen any sort of accessory mounted in that fashion.

the purpose is to make us gnash our teeth in anger and disgust.

I would love a 4003TSW

1) The holes look threaded.
2) The holes aren't even lined up with each other!

Purpose?
Only Bubba knows for sure. But, maybe not even him?

Let's assume the holes are cleanly drilled and tapped. You could find a length of matching threaded rod made of stainless steel. Then, cut off a slightly over-length piece for each hole and thread them in and set them in with permanent loctite.
Then dress them down to match the contour of the trigger guard.

Maybe the holes are for mounting the pistol in a test fixture. Might keep someone from having to hold the pistol while testing ammunition. I could see an LE Agency doing something like that for durability testing. I’d much prefer a ransom rest but someone might look at that 4006 as test specimen. Maybe someone was testing a forced reset trigger, lol.

I think there would have to a better idea than drilling two holes in the trigger guard but I like guns.

There should be a specific post about all these “different “ modifications individuals have done and we have seen. It reminds me of the old Yankee magazine, (I think anyway,) that my parents used to get. There was always a what is THIS article in the back.

I can’t speculate about the holed trigger guard or other things I, (we,) have seen.

Some will probably remember the very strange 41 that I attached an image of. The other 41 was advertised as a custom ported example. (Uneven ports on the bottom?)

I was thinking the same thing as I recall back when I purchased a Ransom Rest at my dept for ammo evaluation. I thought it was impractical since we were buying state bid ammo - but we did it anyway cause the boss wanted to know what an accuracy test would reveal. Guess I could have just drilled a couple of holes in the trigger guard and mounted it to a board?
