An acquaintance has a Walther PPK/S I think from the Holton plant. It has the box, paperwork, etc. I haven't looked at it yet, so can't comment on the condition. He's asking a firm $750. Any comments? I'm getting away from 9mm carry and it would be a carry piece.

If you are asking about the quality of the pistol, I have the PPK from S&W,
and it has been flawless. Very accurate.
Maybe not the best carry piece in todays world, considering the weight and
capacity limitations. But still a good one for someone who knows how to use it.

I've heard that a blued S&Walther PPKs might go that high.
Wouldn't sell our tack driver for that price.
No reason to sell it 'cause I wear a Tux and play a
Grenadilla C Clarinet on occasion.
I carry our stainless one. Great shooter as well.

I own an older 1977 PPK/S that is the most reliable semi automatic I own.
I don’t carry, but if I did, that would be the one.
Because of its blowback design it can be a snappy gun, mine is in .380.
Hope that helps.

Shoot it before you buy it. My brother bought a new ppk made by S&W some years ago. I had never handled, let alone fired any ppk before getting ahold of his. I had always jones'd for one right up until I picked his up and fired a couple of mags. It was in .380 by the way. The most dissatifying firearm I've ever shot.

You'll probably get less recoil from similarly sized 9mms. But they are cool.......

I think I paid around the same price for the gun you referenced but I have no intention of ever firing this pistol. Sometimes you buy a safe queen just because - this was a just because....and my Walther CCP is a 9mm similar-sized pistol I carry routinely so there you have it....

IIRC, I was told the slides were made in Germany and the lowers were investment cast made here.
Two favorite Smiths.
If I need a small 9mm, the Sig replaces the M59.
Accurate but a bit ugly. 👍👍

That's a good price, depends on condition !

Thanks for the input. I had missed the news about the recall and will definitely check.
I'm getting recoil sensitive and I'll definitely have to shoot it before plunking down the cash. I used to have a chewed up and spit out .32 PPK and it was a pleasure to shoot.

If you are getting away from 9mm carry for reduced recoil there are better options in .380. I had an Interarms PPK/s in the late 80s and had a sharp recoil that was more unpleasant the 9mm guns I had at the time. Despite being a heavy all steel gun the blowback action made it recoil harder than 380s like the S&W EZ.

When fired double action the trigger was long and heavy even by 1980s DA/SA pistol standards.

Mine was pretty reliable as long as you used a firm grip and looked cool. But a PPK/s is a much better range gun or safe queen than it is a carry gun.

They are not S&W. They are imported and assembled by Smith, but they are Walther.

I bought a Walther PPS (M1 Classic) back when S&W was selling them and it is a very accurate and reliable pistol (not one FTF ever).

If you are OK with the extended tang (I sort of like it) I think the Fort Smith PPK/S .380 is one of the best Walthers you can buy. I would never pay $750 for a S&W PPK/S.

I have a post recall PPK. I like it because, well, it's a PPK. Mine has functioned perfectly, surprisingly accurate. Not the most pleasant shooting pistol in the collection. A bit heavy for what it is. But I'm happy with it. That said $750 is too much.
