S&W CS9 or Colt Pocket 9?

I used to have a Pocket Nine. It's a nice looking gun, reliable, reasonably accurate. Hated the trigger, it had a squeaky spring sound, like on a staple gun, wasn't all that smooth, and seemed a little heavy. It also had a lot of sharp/pointy edges on it, though that could be taken care of easily enough. You would have a hard time finding spare magazines for it also, as they didn't produce that many.

The Colt undoubtedly has the edge for collector value.

Hi too bad you didn't ask a few months ago because I bought mine NIB from the dealer that bought out S+W's clearence stock. Here is a listing for a like new CS9.The price isn't that crazy considering the Nobama factor. http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti...m.asp?Item=129767666 Hope this helps.....Mike

I think the 3913 is DA only isn't it. It has a decocker which I don't understand with a DA. Perhaps it's a DA/SA which makes sense with the decocker. Help!!!

A ".9mm?" pistol?

Sounds like a collector's item...

Nay... not a collector's item... it's for shooting gnats! Gotta' be pretty good to hit with it, though.

Where did you see .9mm on this thread? I can't find it.

Thanks, Amici... I just KNEW I had seen that .9mm stuff somewhere but could not remember where and couldn't find it on this thread. You are a "sharp" dude! I have been watching that particular auction for a couple of weeks. Should I still buy the pistol?... I really think it's what I want. I can hope his transaction procedures are more accurate than his advertisement postings! The auction got down to TWO days and some-odd hours and I went on line to bid and hopefully buy it, and then I found he had geared it back up to 13+ days!!! Tees me off. I'll just wait and keep looking. If he does that again, he can keep his pistol. I don't bid on stuff early, I usually wait till toward the end. He's the one who botched this sale... not me! Two days used to be TWO days. Ought to be a rule against this procedure.

Jesse

Jesse, thanks for the reply and the nice pictures. Don't want a 45. I shoot a 5906 9mm (for 20+ years) and love it and was looking for something in 9mm smaller and lighter but sort of like the 5906 in operation. The 5906 is TOO heavy to carry. I do appreciate your input very much... have a good one.

Rod:

Yep, 5906 is too large (and heavy) for daily carry, but perfect for home defense, especially with Crimson Trace Lasergrips.. I use mine for just that duty.

But, being a 3rd gen Smith nut, I also have a 6906 which when equipped with the 15rd mags of the 5906 (w/S&W adapter as pictured below)is a bit closer to being a cc choice. I really like the 6906 in a double-stack.

It seems everyone loves the 3913LS, but it's just a wee bit too narrow in the grip for my tastes, although my wife loves it, and it does conceal quite well.

I think the best compromise if you could stand a double-stack is the fine 6906.. But what works for me might not appeal to you at all..

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Picked up a Colt Pocket Nine and also own a CS9. There is no comparison...the CS9n is a brick next to the Colt. It''s a shame nobody has produced a sub-compact nine this nice since.

Yea . . . most the fellas here have (or have seen) CS9s, but few have experienced the Pocket 9. It was a great design from Colt! It carries wonderfully, shoots good for such a small piece, and is reliable as all get out. I love my CS9s, mind you . . . but there is something about wearing a Pocket 9. I think the fact it disappears better than almost any other carry piece I own is a big factor.

CS9 is a great gun, no doubt, but it may be worthwhile to check out the Kahr PM9. That gun absolutely disappears into a pocket.

I almost bought a pocket 9 years ago from a brother officer.

the reason I did not buy...

my trigger finger meat would snag underneath the trigger and the inside top of the trigger guard.

I like my CS9D....but I am looking for something smaller in Nina.

I did own a PM9 one time, but I kept pinching my little finger on mag changes. I would slam mags home like on my duty carry and OUCH!

one negative I dont like about poly kahr's is the mag release (my opinion). they are too soft for pocket carry. if it had a fence around the button or stiffer spring....that would make me want a kahr again.

I will stick with my CS9D for now but always looking for something a little smaller and just as reliable. accuracy is not bad either.
