looking at making 2 mods to my sigma 9mm. one is the popular spring removal to lighten up the pull. only looking to remove 1 spring. the little one at the bottom of the sear assm. the other mod, if can be done, is to swap in a one piece trigger. the gun will not be a carried weapon, only for target practice and home defense. i have done some minor searching and have not found a replacement trigger for the sigma. is there one available, or can a one piece trigger be sourced from another gun?

I highly suggest you read the S&W patent info on the trigger....link here Fire control mechanism for semiautomatic pistols . All of the springs are needed to give a linear trigger pull. For some reason of which I have yet to grasp people think the weight they feel is the trigger not the striker. You can remove every spring in the sear assembly and still be left with a heavy trigger....why because it is a DAO it is just like a wheel gun when you pull the trigger the hammer is pulled back.

That is where the weight is felt. You need a heavy striker spring to ensure no light strikes. The trigger on the Sigma's is actually pretty damn good no real stacking constant pull with clean break.

If you don't believe me here is an easy test rack the slide and pull the trigger, now take the slide off and pull the trigger you will see that the weight is indeed the striker not the trigger. Is there some weight on the trigger yes but facts are facts if you reduce the weight of the sear springs you will still be left with the heavy striker.

If you want to mod the trigger to get a competition quality trigger you would be far better off just buying the M&P.

Thanks, I just can't get over all the threads and videos with people removing random springs or replacing them with springs out of pens without any true understanding of the actual mechanical workings of the sear and trigger assembly.
