Am considering a 929 for my ICORE games. I have several N frames and am familiar with moon clips.

Anyone with 929s who can illuminate me with the guns pluses and minuses?

I have been using one for several years now for USPSA. I has been worked over by Dave Olhasso (formerly of Team S&W, currently of Team Ruger [blaspheme]). No problems whatsoever. Mine is equipped with a Bowen Rough Country rear sight and a FO front. If you decide to go for the 929 I highly recommend the RIMZ poly moon clips. I too am very familiar with the trials and tribulations of moon clips and the hassles of finding the optimum match between clip and brass. The poly clips do away with that - they support the cartridge not only by the extractor groove, but also the case head and work with any brand of brass. Think: recessed cylinder - the moon clip is recessed.

I carry them on a four post moon clip carrier, two deep (8 clips total) and have never had a problem. As far as steel goes, I am using Federal Syn Tech 150 grain rounds and it doesn't seem to have a problem taking down even the big poppers.

Adios,
