Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman

Alright - duly influenced by the 28 / Highway Patrolman love pictured in this thread, my 28-2s below. The one with the more polished finish and yellow-insert front sight was the subject of a separate post of mine and is soon to have some action work performed on it.

I dig the 28s!

You are gonna make me trade shorter.

You suppose anyone prefers 6" to 4". Might be worth a try on a local forum.

Your conversation brings back memories. In 62 I was at my first assignment which was in Colorado at the then Lowery AFB. Having escaped from NYC I went out and bought me my first pistol. A brand new 6 inch 357 mag Highway Patrolman which I have to this day
and I have to tell you guys the finish is as good as the day I bought it. I haven't fired it in a few years as the hands are not as young as they used to be. S&W sure new how to blue their guns in those days.

Ten years before my first assignment so I can understand the "hands". Great story. Glad you've kept it.

I recently acquired a rather unique 4" M/28-2, it has been converted to .44 Magnum using a M/24 barrel. I removed the .44 Special marking and had it remarked to .44 Magnum and rust blued. I can't wait to shoot, I've had 6 1/2" M/28'sin the past that had been converted to .44 Special they were great shooters.

A few years ago I was at a police auction where I was selling weapons that had been handed over to the police for sale. During the demonstration class I found this beauty, it was like new, although without the box and tools.
I had permission to buy a .357 mag S&W revolver, I just hadn't decided on the model, I had in mind the mod 581/681, but they are not very common in Finland.
I found this 28-2 N19xxxx /1973. The revolver was probably almost unfired.

I had to pay EUR 240 for it.

I bought a Taurus model 90 .22 LR 4" revolver from the same auction, which came with that holster. It later turned out that both guns had come to the auction from the same owner, both were like new / unfired.
You got a Great deal!!!!!! I'm thinking hear in the states that would be at least $600 USD or more. Congrats!
