$1,000 to spend on a 9mm... Which one?

H&K P 30 great ergonomics
Browning HP Classic (serpico)
CZ75 right behind the HP! carried all over the world

A pair of 39-2s, sweet what more can ya say.
There was a real nice refinished 39-2 in the classifieds a few weeks ago, with the cash left over you could get a bunch of mags and food to feed it!!

It sure is easy to spend someone else s cash!

I've got all three of these, a couple S&W Model 39s and like them a lot, but I'd have to give my preference to the CZ75 or the Belgian manufactured Hi Power, both are superb (and at the $1K limit, you aren't even remotely close to the cost of a SIG P210-5 or P210-6).

I love my Springfield 1911-A1 in 9mm, it is terrific. I have owned two Hi-Powers, one 9 and one in 40S&W, the triggers are not as good as the 1911. Have also owned two 952's, way beyond your price point, nice target pistols, but not for carry. A friend has an STI 9m, looks pretty good to me.
I will have to admit being intrigued by the idea of an M&P Pro, with a trigger job.

For $1k, I'd find a really nice custom Hi Power. Stippled back and fore straps, Novak sights, and a tuned action. They are out there you just have to look around.

I looked around and didn't find anyone willing to part with one with that type of custom work for a grand . . .

While I am not a big fan of the 9mm round at all, there are three (3) that I would own.

H&K P& M8 - way cool and yes I have one.

Luger - waaaaay cool and I don't have one

Browning Hi Power waaaaaaaay cool and I don't have one.

So there.

I will immediately state I am bias.....that said, if you could get real lucky and find a mint condition s&w 469 you could take about $400 or $500 of your money and put it in the safe for WSHTF. Aluminum alloy(light), 13 shots from a double stack, smooth first DA shot and lightning final 12 in single action. It carries well in IWB holster and fits the hand really well. I have used mine as backup in LE work for over 15 years---no problems. I use it to qualify for my concealed weapons permit. I have no knowledge of the other 9mms mentioned, so I cannot do a side by side comparison. Just thought I would put my 2cents worth in. Good luck in your decision.

Dan Wesson Guardian, a little higher priced, but well worth it.

I have these 9mm's that would fall within your budget and like them all.

HK P30
Walther P99
High Power (with disconnect removed!)

If used I'd look at
HKP7
Walther P5

If I were choosing only one it would be difficult. Somehow I just like the feel of steel that the HP and P7 have so these would probably be the last for me to give up.

You might have to look for more than a day! ;)
I looked for a couple of years . . . some of you guys must have been born under a lucky star, in a four-leaf clover patch, the seventh son of the seventh son . . . some of the prices I see people reporting they've paid.

Finally scratched the itch but I was picky and particular and resigned to pay for it.

CZ85...then drop in a competition hammer and the short reset modification from Cajun Gun Works. Much, much better than both of my HPs...even after their trips to Cylinder and Slide.

I would suggest the Colt Pocket Nine. I bought mine new in 1994 & is a great concealable carry gun. Hard to find for $1,000,but well worth looking for. I equipped mine with night sights because no one makes a Laser for this 1 yr. model. Extra clips are still available to increase firepower.

Another vote for a CZ75 D Compact PCR. Runner up would be the Browning Hi-Power. Had an H&K P30L and the trigger SUCKED. Over priced/over sized and a lousy trigger. To me the CZ is the perfect size and weight for the 9mm cartridge.

OP UPDATE:

I've had/have most all the guns mentioned. CZ, Sig 228, Glocks, I carry my M&P 9c, have a full size M&P, HKP30...

I just pulled the trigger today and bought a Kimber Aegis Pro II - stunningly beautiful, fits my hand like a glove.

Better news, just got a late holiday bonus from work. I think I'm going to get a Hi Power or a M&P 15-22 to pair along with it. Decisions decisions....
