1 month wait already for a shield...ugh!

Shoot Straight Lakeland has both 9 and 40 shields. They will ship to your FFL.

How long am I going to have to wait to get a shield? I realize they are popular but seriously? If there is that big of a demand can the not just concentrate on one specific model and slow down production on other pistols?

I am sorry for your suffering. In the late 60s and early to mid-70s, S&Ws were nearly impossible to find.

In 1969, I waited months for a Model 27 with 3 1/2 inch barrel. In 1972, I waited about a year for a 6 1/2 inch Model 29. I was not able to secure a Model 19 at all before the Model 66 was available, and so I never did get one back then. Model 66s were so hard to find, I had to settle for a Model 65 and a Model 10, both with 4 inch barrels. The Model 10 was the only one I was able to buy "off the shelf" without waiting months for a back order. The 65 took an entire summer.

So, although I "feel your pain," I am not sure it is as great a pain as I felt in the 60s and 70s.

:)

It's 7 mo. for me. I finally bought a Walther PPS.

You will wait forever. You NEED to get out and "beat the bushes" to find one. Waiting lists are a waist of time.

S&W isn't going to slow down production to fill just one small nitch in their complete line of weapons.

Too many people have the "I'll wait and see IF they are any good first".

I have one of the first models out. I ordered it as soon as they mentioned the new model at Shot Show. I've had mine over a year now.

They trickle in to the store slowly and fly out. The dealer demand is high and availability is low. We have a list, and the lists work fine. You get on the list, you wait your turn and you get one when they come in. Pretty simple. My lists take 2-3 months.

well, I checked my dealer and he said I was 22 on the list....Could be a while!

I am new to this, but I read almost everyday the varies posts. I have been waiting since September for a shield and was # 1 on a list with no gun in sight. I walk into LGS on Mon. just to check when they were getting some in. Man was looking at one and walked away. I told salesman that one is mine. Now I have a shield.

You know a product is a great product when u have people willing to wait months for that product. Then of course u could walk in the store and buy an XDS and have people laughing behind ur back when u leave, lol.

Good things come to those who wait.

I was on the waiting list of two different gun shops here. Sent a PM to a guy on a gun forum who worked at shop 45 minutes away. They'd gotten 10 in the week before and still had a couple. Visa and FFL xfer and I had mine.

Ask around. You never know.

Placed my order on Valentines Days. Got them (yes, 2) today.
Test fired on the 19th of April.

Can't wait to fire them. One for the wife, one for me. I'm thinking it will be well worth the wait.

BTW. My LGS had 30 orders at the time I ordered mine. After I pre-paid he told me "Well, you just moved to the top of the list.

Mike

Take heart, I ordered a gun in March and won't see it until June next year. Your wait won't be that long.;)

I feel for you folks in the resticted states, you may never see your firearm, thank your Senate and Congressmen. Vote them folks out come election time. We the people need to take our country back.

Got a call yesterday, picked up a 9mm shield that was in the display case.He had sold me my Tristar and about the hard to find Shield.I said if you see one call me and he did.

The gun is amazing, slender and sleek with a surprising feel and at $450 not a budget breaker.I am sure it will be my carry choice.

I was a little reluctant to get one because my std. 9 M&P went thru a divorce because the gun was unfaithful. But after todays 100 rounds without a glitch with some rough reloads I now know why the shield is highly sought.I never know a short barreled pistol could make me that accurate.

I guess it all depends on timing, I ordered mine 6/27/2012, walked out the door on 8/10/2012. Would have gotten it sooner but i was out of town when it came in... Patience grasshopper, it will come (eventually).

My LGS had one and he was asking $549 and said couple more were coming in....but I already have mine! And I paid less than his $100 over retail.

I wasn't in any real rush, so after watching the pattern of places folks were getting theirs from, I got on the waiting list of the largest stocking LGS I normally visited, figuring that they were more likely to get larger quantity shipments, and get through their back-orders faster.

I only had to wait about a month, and they reportedly got in about 70 in the shipment last week. $445 out-the-door. Looks like I chose wisely.:)

Well, after about 3 months I finally received my shield and man was it worth the wait! Put 125 rounds through it and man I loved every shot. Handles well and has good balance. I am loving it!

That's great! My 10 week wait seems like nothing after finally firing mine! I'm at about 500 rounds now.

I was on the waiting list with 2 LGS. Started searching the forums and found a dealer a hour away who sold me the gun over the phone and did an FFL transfer. Shipping and the FFL fee were $50.
