10-round long magazines

I just ordered two of the S&W long 10-round magazines, which I plan to convert to 25-rounds. I can't visualize where the pin [which must be removed] is located from the online tutorials. Guess I will be able to when I actually see one of them. I like the orange followers, but I can live with blue. I assume that the converted magazines feed just as well as the OEM models.

I don't understand. The Raven Eye site says: Note that the loading tool does not work on the 25 round magazines that have the limiter that only allows for 10 rounds to be loaded. Does that just refer to the unconverted 25/10 round magazine?

Yes. Until they are converted to 25 rounds, the follower cannot be pulled down far enough to insert the button. After removing the pin, they are like any other 25-round magazine.

Pin removal...open bag, remove mag, push in bottom mag pin, slide off bottom plate, pull out plastic tab and spring. Look in inside mag...ahhhh a pin, insert long flat bade screwdriver, flat on pin...wack sd with hammer, shake out pin, reverse assembly.

Done...enjoy 25 rds...if you live in the correct state.

Bought four 10-round long mags, took the springs out per this procedure (seen a couple of other folks outline the same), lined 'em all up on my work bench, using a screw driver and hammer gave each pin one good whack (one took two whacks), and done! Took less than a minute to knock all four pins out and maybe a total time of 5 minutes taking into consideration removing and reinstalling springs. It really is that easy!

I bought a new M&P 15-22 (no flash hider on barrel) a couple of weeks ago. It came with the usual 25 round mag with the red/orange follower. I also picked up a new long 10 round mag (blue follower) from a local fellow and knocked the limiter pin out pretty quick. I got some of the Raven Eye load assist buttons with the loading helper gizmo and put the new buttons in both mags.
The factory sights were removed and a C-More Railway sight was installed. My old eyes don't like open sights so much anymore. The red dots really help.
I got to the range yesterday and loaded both mags to max capacity. To my surprise, the factory 25 round mag would only accept 24 rounds. I got 25 rounds easily into the former 10 round mag. The Raven Eye load assist butttons and loading tool were very helpful to my old, somewhat arthritic fingers.
CCI standard velocity ammo worked fine in both magazines with no failures as did some old Winchester T-22 which was Civilian Marksmanship Program issue from years ago.
It's a great little rifle and I'm going to have lots of fun with it!

You may want to invest in some load assist buttons. They are not installed in the 10 round long, not sure why since the 10 round short includes them.

Raven Eye Custom - M&P15-22 Upgrades

One you remove the limit pin, you'll be able to drop the follower low enough to install the buttons.

You can also use a golf tee or similar to help load the magazine.

I just received the load assist buttons from Raven Eye Custom. Very nice quality.

Suggestion for easier removal of the roll pin:
I filed a V-notch in an old flat blade screwdriver. It helps keep the screwdriver blade on the roll pin while hammering it out.
