Does anyone have a definite lead time from S&W or another retailer regarding the availability of the 10 Round Short Magazine #SW19924.
I really don't understand the drive for 10 round shorts. I want a couple for bench, but won't pay more than $20.04 that S&W sells them for directly (and I'd rather get them at discount from a big retailer). But it's not like there's a rush on to get your 10s before they ban 25s, so why are people paying $50-75 each for a 10 short? Is it just a matter of impatience? For me I needed to get my 7 25s before my state bans new mags over 10 (Governor just proposed yesterday and majority of legislature and senate appear supportive). For me the 10/25 was "perfect" because I really could use it either way and because I already own it pre-ban I'm all set. Curious.
I tried the "notify" with all of the retailers and got 3 or 4 notices in the last 2 weeks. I instantly went to the website and "poof" gone already. I got to 44mag when there were something like 60 in stock, but I wasn't going to pay $35 plus shipping for a post-ban 10.
I think I'll just be patient. I have 2 back orders for 25s from late December / Early January. One from S&W and the other from a retailer. If my state's ban goes into effect, I'll redirect to a buddy out of state.
I honestly wanted a couple of the short 10's for bench shooting and for squirrel hunting. I found a deal the other day and bought 5 locally at a much higher price than I wanted to spend but bought them anyway. I am keeping 2 and 3 are on ebay. Hoping they sell for enough to make the two I keep at or below retail for me.
My 15-22 is an all around gun for fun, practice, and hunting so I actually like the shortys as well as the 25s.
I found your auction on there, and boy did someone drive the price up. If you get what the bid is going for, congrats.
I have 6 of the S&W factory 25rd mags and will most likely get a few more (if they ever become available). The 10rd mags are just more appealing to me. I personally think the 25s are too long -- if someone could make them a bit shorter it would be better. I'm holding out - no way am I paying $100 for a plastic magazine.....

There is a chance the price will go down slightly after April 15 when the NY mag ban goes into effect.
I'm curious why you would think that.
April 15 10 round mags will illegal in NY. Those who have them before the date will be grandfathered in and you can only load 7 rounds. I bet 7 round mags aren't coming for a while.
