10 Round "Shorty" Magazines from S & W

You could buy the repair kit and add a limiter plug. Then you can have a magazine that will hold whatever quantity. The limiter can be trimmed down so the short 10 rounders can hold only 5 rounds. In Oregon you can only have 5 rounds in a semi auto for hunting. With very few exceptions.

I would try that, I have 3 of the 25 round magazines that are converted to 10 round. I wonder if I can change them to 15 rounds?

If you installed our red limiter, then yes. Just trim at the line and abracadabra, 15 rounds.
If you bought the pinned mag, you have a bit more work involved.

short 10 rounders

seen that s&w started selling the short 10 rd mags, but they are sold out of course. Why are they the same price as the long 10s? they are half the spring and half the polymer as the longs. anyone know where they are cheaper and in stock? thanks guys/gals

Wait a while and then get them from Allied Armory because they're sold out. Same price as the longer 10/25 but it's at 16.95 I believe(and that's before shipping)

I got one from Feararmory.com but I got the last one they had:cool: I don't know when they will restock them but they list them at $15.22 (Long or Short 10rd magazines). I got some long mags as well to practice with full size pieces, but the load assist button on the short one is great. Also, S&W told me you can't just put a button on the long 10rd mags cuz the blue followers don't allow for it. Anyway, check them out as that's the lowest price I could find.

The molds for the mags and floor plate are unbelievably expensive. I know, I make molds for another part of my living. Plastic is relatively cheap. The labor to glue the pieces together and the glue is cheap. The springs are just shorter versions, so the machine just cuts them short, the follower and the ALAB are the same though.
The demand for the 10 rounders is relatively tiny compared to the 25 round ones. After all, why would you want to purposely restrict the rounds you can load? If there were a commercial, semi auto, belt fed .22 with an endless disintegrating link belt , I would imagine people would shoot till they are tired of it, the bullets ran out, or the money ran out.
Bench shooters like the shorter mags because they don't hit the bench. Plus it's too few rounds to really heat up the barrel.

They must have just run out. I ordered the 2 weeks ago by phone, salesperson said he didn't think they had them in stock. When he got back on the phone said they had a "ton", how many do I want. They came within 3 days. I like the short ones for the kids while sitting at the gun bench, it gives them a little more room.

Does anyone know of a dealer that has the right papers to ship them to Holland, I want a set but they are impossible to get here.

Presuming you already tried the S&W web site? You may have to order them through your dealer where you bought (or will buy) your 15-22 as most, if not all, on-line firearm equipment suppliers may not be allowed to sell internationally. For instance, here's some info from the Midwayusa web site.

Thanks for the reply John.

Problem is S&W doesnt see Holland as important, so it will take some time till we get them. But i guess i have to be patience (not my best virtue)

Im wantin the shorts so bad they look so much cleaner than the longs (if i could get 25 rders would be nice). anyone got pictures of the shorts in their gun

I ordered some shorts right from S&W and they came within 2 weeks. This was about 3 weeks ago. The 25 rounder limited to 10 rounds is lame IMO. Wish I could modify it to take 25 rounds :D

which shortys come with the blue followers instead of orange? or was that only on the first gen mags?

Here is one of the new 10 rounders direct from S&W. I have seen another one that had the 25 round floor plate on it. The plate was way too short.
As far as I know, the blue followers are on the longer 25 round body, pinned to 10 round. And they don't come with the ALAB.
All you need to do to convert the long 10 rounder to 25 is remove the pin. Unless it it illegal for you to have the evil high capacity .22LR magazine.
The shorties do look nice and they are great for bench shooting or prone for the littler ones.

The long 10rd mags come with blue followers, I've only seen the short ones with red.

The load buttons don't work with the blue followers simply because the internal limiter pin won't allow the follower to fall out of the magazine to install the button, which is why the shorties have them.

And note that where legal it is very easy to convert the long mags to un-neutered 25 round capacity. I wouldn't hesitate to buy long 10 rounders if they were a good price. Either chop them for shorties or unpin for 25s.
