1k or rounds did seem like a whole lot at one point, now its not.

Bullets seem quite a bit cheaper all in all than they were thirty or more years ago.

Try to find a box of .38 wadcutters anywhere! I remember shops would have whole shelves for their .38 special selection. Most shops carried all bullet weights 110-200gr and all styles , ( WC , SWC , LRN , JHP , JSP , shotloads) and from several makers. Plus at least 1 or 2 brands of cheap reloads.

All ya find now is that anemic 130gr FMJ at 750fps.

About ten years ago, I went to a now closed range in Sheffield Lake, Ohio to zero some guns for Camp Perry.

My bullseye wadcutter gun is a .38 Special Giles M1911. While I was bringing my gear in, the guy at the counter asked me what kind of ammunition I was using. I figured that he was concerned that I was using armor piercing or something. Instead, when I told him I was just using lead bullet wadcutter loads, he told me that I couldn't use lead bullets, but that he'd sell me some .38 Special ammunition, holding up a box of hot JHPs. I was tempted to ask him to load some of those into the magazine for the Giles, but he'd have just wrecked an expensive magazine. Instead, I packed my stuff and drove to another place about forty minutes away, where I had guns pointed at me twice in about five minutes, but that's another story...

1000 rounds don't last long if you shot and practice for ICORE.

I'll go through this in a month along with a boat load of 9mm. I try shoot at least twice a week just to keep the rust off.
