The 1000 20 ga has, I think, a buffer under the gas piston. Got one from Numrich. So, having pulled and cleaned the piston, to get the action working, I am guessing the buffer sits inside the mag tube below the piston. Nothing anywhere on this, other than a mention that there is one. I suspect it may just sit on bottom of the piston bore, but not sure. Also, will it remain in place or use a dab of adhesive. My piston was gummed up and suspect it was the buffer....but just trying to do some homework before treading heavily. help appreciated

The mag tube is about .80 dia, and the new rubber buffer ring is about .84. I am going to order some silicone o rings of 21 mm x 3mm to try as replacement if the new rubber begins to turn to mush, like the old one. I jammed the new rubber ring into place...very tight. The 21 mm size is in between, but should stay put??? The silicone ring will take the heat, and prob the chems.

Good stuff. Do you know how the mag spring and this washer come apart.....maybe once the tube is screwed out??? It would be nice if they had a bit of info on how this comes unglued somewhere.....not in owners manual, but somewhere, so that digging in a bit further was easier. Tx

It’s been a long time since I have had a 1000 apart but I seem to remember that there is a piece that retains the magazine spring that is held in place by stakes in the tube. I think you can turn the piece a quarter of a turn to free it from the stakes and remove it.

I made s buffer out of leather and drilled hole in the middle of it, to copy the rubber one that's in there. I will get pics this weekend to this thread.
The rubber one deteriorates because of solvents, and gums up the piston, which causes ejection problems.
Correct on the 1/4 turn to remove the edge cut washer that holds the spring in the magazine tube.... Use a long, stock removal screwdriver, and DO NOT LOOK INTO THE MSGAZINE TUBE AS YOU DO THIS. If the washer slips off of the screwdriver, it will shoot right up into your eye. Guess how I know this!
