$1000!!!!!

Am guessing the payments will be limited to those who lost jobs due to safety precautions.

Joke if you want, but this is serious business. I'm guessing that this money will go to all registered tax payers. Trying to set up a system to determine who does or doesn't need it would take too long. So they're just gonna hit everybody to speed things along.
A whole lot of folks are out of work. Many were just barely getting by as it was and don't have much in the bank to fall back on. People who are broke and hungry have a tendency to get plumb rowdy. I think this is a emergency band-aid to temporarily delay any civil unrest problems.

Twas talking to stepson yesterday. Said he was going to get furloughed

from his job this week.. l mentioned the $1000 stimulus that is likely

coming our way soon.. He lmmidiately began complaining about the taxes

he would have to pay on it next Year... l told him to give it to me. l'd be

be happy to take it off his AND pay the taxes on it..

To be honest there are three people in my house and none of us really need a 1000 each. We are not wealthy people but this just seems like a knee jerk reaction. If this really does come to pass I'll probably donate mine to someone much more needy then I.

I really don't need it either.

I heard someone on the radio yesterday saying that there are a few asking Trump not to send everyone $1000 but rather step up unemployment so it can get money to the people who can't work due to the virus immediately rather than the usual 4-6+ weeks.

I'd rather see the people directly affected get help rather than just passing out money to everyone.

However, if I do see the $1000 I have decided to invest it wisely.
I'll invest in increasing my ammo stockpile. :D

I could be wrong, but I think that the reason why it will go out on a universal basis is due to the following:

1) Putting more money into the economy is the goal. Even those who don't "need" it, will end up spending it, or at least a good percentage. I, for one, will sock it into savings should I receive a check.

2) Determining who "needs" it requires a mechanism for assessing that need, and will slow down the process.

Hold on, and you knew this was coming. A headline from this morning. (Bold emphasis mine).

Trump Admin Considering Sending $2,000 to Certain Americans During Wuhan Coronavirus Pandemic.

The economic stimulus package to fight damage from the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic under consideration by the White House includes a proposal to send two $1,000 checks to certain Americans, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

Checks would be sent to Americans below a certain income level, although it is not yet clear what that level will be.

Trump Admin. Considering Sending $2,000 to Certain Americans During Wuhan Coronavirus Pandemic: Report

Someone, of little significance recently ;), is proposing giving every household $2,000 a month.
In a few days, he and his grandiose ideas will be history. :D

From what I am hearing, it may be split up into two checks a month apart, amount undetermined. And there will be income and family size limits on those who get the check(s). Prediction - if it happens, it will be money thrown away with no tangible results for the economy.
