Hi Jeff, I was taking a good long hard look at a 10mm but found out that the ammo has gotten very, very pricey and very, very hard to find. I liked the tech info on it but I settled for a 1911 PD 45.

For some of the best 10mm ammo, check out DoubleTap:
DoubleTap Ammunition
If you can find Winchester silvertip, it is good shooting ammo suitable for self defense, but not loaded to the 10's full potential.
Feeding any decent ammo should not be a problem. The 1006 I used to own would feed an empty case.

Both Buffalo Bore and Double Tap make 10mm ammunition to the original specifications. That is to say 200gr@1200 FPS CorBon comes close at 1125. Most of the rest of the 10mm ammunition on the market is warm 40 S&W.
All of it is expensive, some very expensive. Both Double Tap and Buffalo Bore seem have reasonable stock and have shipped when I ordered.

Many of us who shoot 10mm, reload, I would not shoot much if I did not reload.

The last time I was in an Academy store, they had 10mm on the shelf. If I remember right, it was CCI Blazer and under $30 a box.

GEOGRIA ARMS AMMO

AMEN racer x.....try CABELAS bulk ammo for practice ammo....cheap cabelas.com...........chet

Feeds well??? LOL if it says 10mm auto the S&W 1006 will feed it. Hell you can cycle empty brass through them!!!

Take up reloading, most .40 bullets work in 10mm. Save a bunch of money and have ammo whenever you want. All you need is some brass.

$16/50rds, not a bad price. I think it cost me about $17-$18/100 to load myself. Takes about 45 mins. to due a hundered FMJ. Makes 10mm reasonable to shoot. About $300 in equipment. I load a lot of different rounds, .38/.357 is about $13/100 in lead. You can see how the savings add up quick.

been shooting the 10 mm now since the mid 80s i have the 1006, g 20 and kimber 1911

UMC has 10 200 gr loads that salls for about $25.00 per 50

i also have been loading my own since the mid 80's

10MM

10MM is one of many reasons I reload.
It is a great caliber, but out of this world pricing for Factory.
If you buy a 1000 new brass from Starline it is not so bad.
10mm and 38Super are my two fave calibers in Auto Pistol.
They are also the main reason I reload ....

175 gr Silvertip @1250 fps has good penetration and expansion. Recoil is manageable.

I shoot Win 175 Silvertips in my 10XX series and have great success. My 1006 will shoot better than me at 15 - 20 yards. Very accurate and problem free.

There is a local retailer here in Billings that has 20-22 boxes of CCI Blazer 10mm ammo. Think you could probably get all of it at $20.00/box...Might help you out. If so, let me know and I'll get you the contact info and let you run with it.

I havn't had any Double Tap 10mm, but I have had it in .45, .40, .and .308, it was all top quality, accurate, and powerful. I would totaly recommend Double Tap for any serious use, for plinking you may be able to find better deals on range ammo.
