All have their original grips on them except the 1086 which is wearing a set of Houge Rubber.

Question Grips for 1006 & 1066

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm going to order the Hogue grips for now. The 3rd gen's that I like best all have the Hogue grips. If ThomasH & I ever get any of the arched/curved back grips I'll make a comparison.

My first but certainly not my last S&W Pistol.....my 1066. I am blown away by this gun.

I have a 1006, 1066, 1026. I am shopping around for the right deal on a 1076 right now too.

I had front serrations added to my 1006, and played with the trigger a bit. I got what must have been the last all steel guide rod from S&W to replace the cracked OEM aluminum one. If anyone knows where I can get more solid SS rods please pass it on to me.

I had a set of Hogue rosewood grips on my 1006, but they kept shooting loose so I got rid of them. Had to sand the seam when I originally put them on, it was badly mismatched.

I to would like find a new guide rod. Seems like I've looked everywhere so far no luck.

You can still get guide rods from S&W, they are just the crappy aluminum ones with the crimped on steel end.

From what little I've read on the subject, the FBI's problems were self-induced. The gen3 design is solid and very reliable, unless it is tinkered with.

I was under the impression it was the 1046 and 1086 that were the DAOs. Is that wrong?
