You need to push the firing pin into the frame. Then start to pull out the safety lever while rotating it downward. There is a spring and plunger on the safety lever which will shoot out and end up on the floor.
Remove whatever you used to push in the firing pin and pull the safety lever out of the slide. The firing pin will shoot out of the frame and end up on the floor.
Of course you will do all of this after normal take down and removal of the slide. I hope you can find the parts on the floor. I hope this helps as maybe you won't lose the flying parts the first time like I did. Bruce
I will post a link to schematic so you can get a look at the parts. I don't know what they call the part on the DAO guns so I went with what I know. I don't have a 1086 but the procedure seems to be the same for all the Smiths. It's easy except for those flying parts. Bruce
