Forum member Nimrod44 called me today and said there was a very nice (could possibly pass for NIB) 13-2 at one of our local shops. I just went by to check it out, s.n. 9D016xx is and it has a recessed cylinder but the barrel is not pinned. Box in very good condition, paperwork, and unopened cleaning kit. Appears to have been shot very little, if at all. There are a few tiny dings and marks, fairly insignificant. Priced at $900 and on consignment, so no wiggle room on the price. Whatta ya think?

On the high side but for a three inch not ridiculously so. If it were local to me I'd seriously consider it. I picked up a minty nickel four inch a few months ago for $625, no box. I can't remember the last time I saw a three inch 13 in the wild.

Picked this one up last spring.
13-4 3 inch NIB....paid around $750-800 IIRC.
Have some sambar stags coming for it.
They were bringing insane prices during the boom last year.
Buy it.

Back in May I paid $1K for an excellent condition 3-inch -4 with combats, box and tools. no papers.

The gun that is tempting you is a definite buy in my book!

Does it have a bull barrel with no rear sight except the gutter sight. Sounds like a transition model. Mine is a 13 - 2 4" pinned and recessed from 1974. Never saw a 3" Sounds interesting. I know they made them, just never had one come my way.

When I bought mine it was for hunting hogs, which was already short. However the 3 " is a personal defense. They seem to bring more money

You have a late 13 - 2.

If it is the complete package including original stocks, I'd be pretty tempted at that price. I'd still try to haggle though. As the shop if they can get the consign-er on the phone to talk turkey.

As mentioned, walk in with 8 $100 bills. Get seller on phone. If it's a no go and you're technically buying from consigner try to work around the sales tax. Not sure what sales tax is there but it would be around 60 bucks here.

Be careful as revolver quality was getting inconsistent around that time at S&W. Check the timing for each cylinder and make sure she locks up properly and all six trigger pulls feel the same in DA. Check it out closely.
