13-2 Barrel not pinned

I picked up a model 13-2 sn 9D05xxx and noticed the cylinder was recessed but the barrel not pinned. It is a 4" barrel, was this normal for this time period? Thanks in Advance for any info.

They will be seen both P&R and without the pinned barrel.

The barrel pin was eliminated around the same time they eliminated the recessed cylinders so a lot of the 'transitional' models have recessed cylinders but the barrels aren't pinned.
