Yes, I’d love to look at it. Can’t make it during the week because of work and they close earlier during non daylight savings time of the year. I could go next Saturday or Sunday.

I've seen the prices on model 14's going up, but that's been the asking prices, as opposed to actual prices. I also believe $675 is high for that gun. A few years ago I paid about $400 for a no dash in similar condition, and I don't think the values have gone up that much. $500 doesn't seem that unreasonable, though, considering the age of the gun. IMHO.

This 1980 14-4 went out the door for $700 from a local pawn shop. Bought another from the same place w/o box for a whole lot less. $675 would be high for me but I've been known to make copper wire out of a penny.

Yes, -1 four screw guns are harder to find than other versions. Some like the 28-1 are downright hens teeth, but the Model 14-1's and 15-1's seem to fit the category of "somewhat scarce". I look at them more of a collectable and wouldn't pay a large premium for a shooter. A pre-model or a later pinned version would probably serve just as well for a range gun, condition being equal.

I picked up this 15-1 a few years ago. It has earlier factory refitted stocks, which is an interesting example of S&W not throwing things away. I consider the condition acceptable for a representative "-1". Note the "L" on the back of the cylinder and the groove behind the rod knurling, which signify left hand threads. I paid just under $500, which I thought was a decent price. Sorry for the lint!
