14-3 pics CHP

Added some more pics

I dressed her up in a set of diamond targets with a football cut out which I believe is correct for a 1967 14-3.
Next, I had a newer set of the target grips with the speed loader relief cut.
What you think?

Looks good, was just wondering if they stamped 'chp' on the left side of the frame like the model 67 and 68. As far as getting a letter, in my opinion, save the $100. It will tell you the date and distributor. Might not say sold to state.

No Stamp

viking,
The 14-3 is absent of any agency markings. I think you are more than right... a letter may just show a shipping date from S&W and thee California distributor it was shipped to. The revolver was sold to the officer while still a cadet by a sales staff of S&W per others in the know.
I have the cadet/officer's info and the class date, III-69, when he signed for it so that's probably a better timeline than a letter at this point.
It was cool to find out that both the armorers for CHP at the time that signed the above document and completed the repairs went onto be master gunsmiths. I know it was done right anyhow.
