I bought a 14-7. On the box it shows "Spec. Ord. 9090". Any way of deciphering this short of sending $50 to S&W? I'm just curious, I bought it to shoot, not collect. Basically it's a center fire 617 (blue not SS), and nothing outside (or inside) looks special.

is it a K frame reciever with an L frame barrel 6"?

PICS

if so, those things are junk and I will gladly take that off your hands for a low price :P

K frame, RB, 6" full underlug barrel, FMFP.

Not a chance, I was a long time finding a -7.

I tried!

I bought a 586 6" and its a good shooter, just need to trash the front orange for a patridge as yours has.

if I am not mistaken, those guns were made for distingushed revolver NRA matches. full underlug for steady 50 yd shots, 38 "E"special to get the best accuracy with the shorter cylinder and the patridge front sight for shooting black paper targets.

not sure if it will have collector value, but they are rare and if it were me, lets go shoot.

Any collector value is a moot point. I got it to shoot. A "matched" centerfire to go with my 6" 617. Just was curious as to what the special order code was about. Could be because it's a patridge and black rear instead of a ramp with insert and white outline.
