So early this morning I fired my 15,000th round out of my Smith and Wesson M&P .40... This has been my duty weapon for almost 10 years now. I traded in a Glock 22 and paid cash for the difference. Its got holster wear and the side is a little scratched up from tackling and wrestling bad guys.... But my trusty M&P keeps on going and going.

Being a revolver guy I was worried when my department went from revolvers to semi automatic handguns. I never had a problem with the Glock I just didn't like the way it felt in my hands. Who would've thought 15,000 rounds and no problems.

My question of the day is what is your round count and have you had any problems?

My first year production .40 m&P FS has over 17,000 rounds downrange in USPSA/IDPA matches.....finally the original striker block broke... I called Smith and they sent me another one immediately which arrived three days later.

They were stunned that a first year production Striker block went that far but were also pleased to know that it did. They sent me the newest version....am sure that it will go that far as well....

BTW, I never did change out the recoil spring....they sent one with the Block anyway....all at NO CHARGE!

That is an awesome testimonial to the m&p.

My wife and I have 4 m&p's, 2 shields, 2 m&p 22s. Plus 3 s&w revolvers.

40 FS was jamming early on. S&w replaced slide and upgraded to night sights . The 45 FS is occasionally jamming, seems the extractor is too tight or needs a chamfer. Sometimes the shells will not slide properly under the extractor and some brass will be shaved off the rim. I need to send her in.

I'd guess highest round count at 2k for either the 40fs or 40c in our family.

Guess I need to fire up the Dillon 550 and start catching up to you :D

I will wear out long before my 9C will. And maybe by the time I hit 17k on the Shield its recoil spring will loosen up enough that I will be able to rack the slide without having to use both hands and my left leg.

Around 20,000 rounds in 3-1/2 years through a FS M&P40. All but the first 50 were reloads. I did get a new recoil spring and new magazine springs, but that was because I was thinking that they were the cause of light primer strikes and bullets not going fully into battery. The culprit was a dirty extractor cavity which prevented the extractor from allowing the case rim to feed smoothly. Once that was cleaned out, I put the old springs back in and got flawless performance once again.

Wowie Zowie! 15,000 and 20,000? That's a lot of shootin.

I love my .40 M&P...it might be one of my favorite autos. I have a 9mm and .40 shield too. Really prefer the M&P though.

Says a lot about Smith Wesson and M&P's huh?

I have problems getting large number of rounds fired with a certian gun because I have 7 I like to shoot and alternate between them daily. Don

I retired my 9 Core at the end of last season at 90K rounds. Not because it wore out but I wanted a little different platform (still a M&P but not a Core) My wife still shoots it but it only gets a few hundred rounds a month now. Old and new are below.

I belonged to a department of nearly 200 officers and can never remember a problem with any of the MP40's we had. I now own 9 different models and find them all to be of high quality.

I have several guns, from Colts to Smith and Wesson, Ruger and even a couple off brands. I have a Colt King Cobra with over 50,000 rounds, Smith and Wesson Model 629 with over a 100,000 rounds(95% magnum loads) and my little pride and joy Smith and Wesson Model 64 approaching half a million rounds!
My Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum has about 1500 rounds through it now.

Also have a Smith and Wesson Model 5906 just shy of 200,000 rounds, Smith and Wesson Model 4506 right at 50,000 rounds and an awesome California Highway Patrol model 4006 don't know the round count from the CHP but I've put about 2500 rounds through it....

My M&P Pro9 FS will pass 10K rounds by the end of this month.

All fired in the last 15 months of ownership. It shoots better than I do.:D

I had an M&P 40 years ago. I liked the way it felt. But even after a trip to S&W it still dropped magazines when fired.

In the end it didn't do anything my Glocks didn't do as well or better, not to mention the magazine prices.

Edit to say I probably should mention that I have a S&W 3913 I purchased new in 92 or 93. Its perfect in every way, except weight. (and it did have to go back to Smith for a trigger tension spring).

At the time this was a perfect off duty carry weapon. Its one of the few guns I own that has never jammed, regardless of ammo or magazines.

M&P 9

I purchased an M&P 9 last fall, and I have always wondered if it would go the distance. So, posts like these are very informative and help me anticipate what to expect from my M&P.

As far as I'm concerned the M&P is a magnificent pistol. Very accurate; comfortable, and the fact that you have 18 rounds at your disposal (if needed), doesn't hurt either.

Thanks for the posts guys!!!

I have an M&P 9c and carry a shield and some S&W .357 revolvers. I love the revolvers but really have grown to love the M&Ps. About 4 months ago I walked into a steal on 2 old mint Browning Hi Power's. I thought they were awesome until I went back and shot the M&P compact and find myself going back again and again. It just has a feel that can't be beat. Glad to hear it's durability will sustain years of gentle use.

M and P 9mm- 20,000 rounds

I have a 9mm M and P Pro series. I had TRu Glo fiber optic sights installed ( I am old and cannot see as well as when I was young).I have never had a single issue with this weapon. I have owned Glocks, Springfiels XD's, and others, and in my book the M and P is the best. I have fired 20,000 rounds in the last year and a half and have never had a single malfunction.

sight

Officerblue, there was a picture attached to the email I received from the forum. If that is a pix of your M&P, what sight is that? It looks more like a red dot for an AR. Thanks, Bill

I have three S & W, MP's, a full sized 40 (I have a interchangeable 357 Sig Barrel also), a 9mm Pro, and a 9mm compact. The only one I have ever had problems with is the compact. It failed to load the last round in the magazine often. Sent it to S & W for repairs twice. They finally fixed the problem and sent me a extra magazine for my trouble. Great warranty service!
The compact is now my favorite.
Thank you for helping our country be a better place to live!:D
