Was just given what I was told was a black WW2 era holster for the PO8 Luger. Holster has seen use but still quite serviceable! Has tool and spare magazine!

Only markings I could find were PO8 and it looks like the initials JKH 42 next to a Nazi eagle, WITH a smaller swastika below that.

Below that in much smaller lettering it looks like waa927

Due to problems installing Microsoft 11 I cannot do pictures yet!

Best guess on my part this is just a every day holster for a enlisted man, what say you!

I believe that pistols were normally carried only by officers but not an expert.
German Officers, especially ranks like Oberlutenant and Hauptmann and above, would probably not typically carry a large pistol like a P08 or a P38....That would more likely have been carried by an NCO....

Officers would generally have carried a smaller pistol like a Walther PP, PPK or Mauser HsC.

You lucky devil! Now you have a perfect excuse to buy a Luger. I have been looking for a reason for decades...interesting design, but have always been too expensive to justify. But if I had a holster and a magazine, well, there is the reason!

Wow, nice gift!

This one sold for $320, without a magazine. WWII Luger mags can bring as much as the holster!

Thank you, a lot of info there. " The holster has nice black leather where most of the original black ink dye has worn off leaving the holster looking brown and black." Wow that and condition describe my holster to a tee.

Congratulations, you received quite a gift! Here's a brown WWII (or earlier) P-08 holster that my dad brought back from Germany after the war. Although it's definitely designed for a Luger, it also perfectly fits the P-38 that he also brought home. Prices for these nice holsters are skyrocketing! Enjoy!

That has a Luftwaffe breast eagle pinned to the front of the holster that did not come there...You dad probably "liberated" that from a Luftwaffe officer's uniform and then pinned it through the front of the holster flap. This was often done by returning GI's, and often to German belts.

These are usually nicknamed "hate belts".
