I'm having a hell of a time finding a trigger that will work with this rifle. First a bought a Timney drop in trigger but got frequent light strikes with it. I believe this is because they use a lighter hammer or hammer spring to lighten the trigger pull. So I put it in another AR I had and ordered an adjustable Jard.

The problem I have with the Jard is the hammer fails to reset occasionally and I even had a double fire today. Some ammo will not reset the hammer at all. I've pulled it out twice and ran through all the adjustments but I'm about at my wits end with this rifle.

Is there anyone who has installed an aftermarket trigger (preferably a two-stage) in their 15/22 and can honestly say they have zero malfunctions with it? I really hate to buy another one and have more issues. Thanks.

Mine is a Performance Center model, it came with a great 2-stage trigger that I can say I have had zero malfunctions with over 6000 rounds. Problem is I have no idea if you can get the same trigger aftermarket. May try contacting the S&W Performance Center and ask them what they used.

My Jard adjustable has been 100 percent reliable from the first time I pulled the trigger. It is a single stage, though. It's all in the adjustment, IMHO.

Geissele 2 stage, 2.5#, zero malfunctions caused by the trigger. Proper adjustment of ANY trigger is absolutely necessary to achieve your goal.

I had some trouble with the Jard resetting the hammer as well, usually with standard velocity or slower ammo. I did some playing around with a the standard trigger versus the Jard trigger and noticed that the disconnector on the Jard seemed stronger than the standard 15-22 disconnector. I tested with the hammer uncocked, then held the trigger back and pushed the hammer down until it engaged the disconnector. With the Jard it seemed to take more weight on the hammer to get past the disconnector. I swapped the standard disconnector spring with the Jard and it seems to be easier to get the hammer to engage the disconnector now, but I haven't had a chance to take it out and test it.

Yeah that seems to be the problem I have. I actually ordered a spare disconnector spring and cut a couple of coils off of it to weaken it and it actually made the problem worse. I reinstalled the original one and it got a little better but it still happens occasionally.

I may pull it all down and go through the adjustments one more time but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I read somewhere that the trigger pins should be well oiled. That's one thing I didn't do. May try that.

Geissele Super 3-Gun. KNS 15-22 trigger pins. Drop it them in, then shoot. That is all there is to it. Don't play with different springs unless you really know what you are doing.
