Yup, about .002 difference. The diameter of a .223/5.56 projectile is bigger. A .22 LR just sort of "rattles" down the barrel.![]()
Not to mention the twist rate. A standard 5.56 barrel is 1:7ish vs. 1:15ish for a .22 barrel.

I don't know guys, but I just have not really warmed up to my 15-22.
Sorry I seem to have offended some of you by not praising the platform and marching in lock step with your particular experiences and expectations.
When I made this post I knew there'd be some anger and hoped there'd be some honest discussion,
I didn't buy a second one, I had my first one replaced under warranty since the hammer pin kept walking out.(5) it can't be all that bad, since you bought a second one.
More importantly, you have 2 complete rifles instead of 1 and 1/2. This was the selling point for me rather than a dedicated .22LR upper for my AR-15.

And yeah, the second one that I currently have did the same thing, that's why I replaced the hammer.
The pin retaining spring in the 15-22 hammer was weak and would let the pin slip out.
That certainly didn't do much to endear me to it!
And maybe "Angry" was too strong a word, however there is at least a little irritation in some of these post (mine included).
...it was not my intent to "bash" or impune the 15-22...
