I have used the cci cb longs in my 22's for very quite shooting but noticed smith &wesson declares this ammo shouldnt be used in the 15-22. Does anyone know why or what the potential harm is?

Potentially the weapon will not cycle reliably due to the lower pressures created by the SS ammo. Some members on here are able to run with little to no problems. Give it a try but just don't go out and by several thousand rounds of the stuff and if you start to have problems switch back to standard or high velocity ammo.

S8hot this with mine a week or so ago rested at 25 yards, just shooting for a group and not totally zeroed in yet. Function was fine, my 15-22 does not have the blue springs and has JP rifles 4.0 spring set. Flier was either operator error but it was on the last shot when the bolt stayed open too, not sure what the cause is.

I use CCI mini mags 32 grain, and must put over thousand rounds with no failures or noticeable damage to the gun. Now if you have 22A pistol they say after thousand rounds the Teflon on the slide needs replacing. I can tell you that is true after 800 rounds I had to replace it. Other then I love that ammo, and each time I go to the store I buy them out of stock. In month I must shoot 12 boxes.

I went to CCI's website and can't find any 34 grain shells.
What is the velocity of these 34 grain shells? The OP is having a problem with subsonic shells.

Did you ask CCI? Their website says the CB Long will NOT cycle semi-automatic weapons.

Obviously if a round is subsonic it is much less powerful than a hypervelocity round and has less energy. Less energy = less recoil = less ability of the round to move the action of a semi-automatic weapon.

CCI CB Longs won't cycle the bolt on a 15-22, they are not nearly strong enough as they are around 700fps(?) . But you can shoot them, and manually cycle them, "bolt action" style. they feed from the mag and eject fine. So, rack, fire, rack, fire...........

Oh, rack fast or tilt rifle slightly right, so the case has no problems dumping out (stovepipes).

Enjoy your quiet shooting!

Mine won't cycle realibility with Rem sub-sonics even with the JP springs and suppressor installed. However, it runs just fine with CCI standard velocity rounds.

Rem. sub-sonic run 864 fps in my gun. The CCI std. vel. runs 1000 fps.

Thank you for all of the responses. Here, I was thinking I was damaging my gun by shooting this stuff. It's just so easy to set up a 50yd target in my backyard and shoot from inside the living room. Its nice to get a rifle dialed before going out into the wilderness. Who has time then, what if I see a rabbit? :)

Sub Sonic

I found an intresting round that works well
Aguila,Sub Sonic
60 grain Bullet, looks like a large bullet in a 22 short case.

Have you used those 60 grain rounds in your M&P15-22? Do they feed properly?
I have some, but only use them in my Bearcat.
