Hello all, and thanks for being there - i really enjoy this forum..

Can a person have a 15-22 and a 15-22P in the same household?

Under no circumstance will i knowingly break the law, but i have just read where some have suggested just owning one of each is 'intent'.

Yes, you can have both.

Can you shorten the barrel on the rifle? Yes, but you have to file the paperwork with the ATF first.

Can you put a stock on the pistol? Yes, but you you have to file the paperwork with the ATF first.

Thanks so much for the quick replies.. i have no intention of making a SBR (illegal in RI anyway)... i had read on one of the forums where several folks were blogging that just having the 2 in the same household could be construed as 'intent'...

The only intent I could see would be if you intend to enjoy shooting different types of firearms.

This is not legal advice, get that from someone professional, but they have gone after people with "unwed" lowers and AR pistols before with "intent" to make an SBR. But having matching number of complete rifles and pistols should not be a problem.

In all sincerity, where does this stuff come from? Could you point us to some sample threads? I must be missing those because I'd have a field day living in those.
