Looking for general information, yr shipped and approx. value. 4" pinned barrel is in excellent condition other than slight turn marks it's in new condition. Ser. # 5K85406, TT&TH, numbers matching grips. No box or paperwork. It looks like it's never been apart. My brother picked this up in an estate sale years ago. Not looking to sell, just would like to know more about it. Thanks

Looks to be in nice shape. I make it out to be 1974. Value 550 to 600 maybe. Too bad there is no box to verify that the TT & TH are factory installed at the time of original shipment. You can request a letter on the gun from S&W. I think the cost is 75.00

Nice looking Model 15. The target hammer and trigger are fairly rare on this model. They were more common on the 6" Model 14 which also had a "target" (Patridge) front sight and often came with target stocks.

Well, there is a ton of info on the Model 15 but I'll try to give you a little information... The Combat Masterpiece was brought into being after the war. It was developed after Karl Helstrom decided that the company would build holster revolver for Police Officer use. The revolver became the Combat Masterpiece, Model 15 and was a huge success and is one of Smith and Wesson's best revolvers ever made ( among many), and will be forever known as the BEST police issue revolver. The U.S. Air Force thought so much of it that it was the issue revolver for the Security Forces and Pilots for many years. A great revolver and one of the best ever made by the company and a favorite among members here.

My guess is the OP's outstanding 15-3 shipped just as it appears with target hammer & trigger and magna stocks. Here is another one from a little earlier in October 1970.

Great revolver, I was a Small Arms Tech. for part of my AF career and trained many air crewmen with it. The model 15s stood up extremely well with many thousand rounds put through them.
