got lucky this week, lgs had taken in an 18-3. the stocks are not correct but can live with that as the condition of the bluing is 96-98%. i over paid a wee bit but not concerned as will soon catch up. hard to believe that the 18's kinda got passed over for a while, they really are a nice well balanced gun. i like to think of nice older guns like these as sock drawer guns.

pretty tickled with my find. pardon the oil.

what's the dob with ser# 1k83xx please.

Very nice. I scored a NIB 18-3 made in 1975 on Christmas last year. I have a 1950 pre 18 that I shoot and absolutely love. Good 18's are getting harder to find.

Nice gun, and an excellent case of "wrong grips". Very clear medallion and beautiful grain.

the crazy part is when i pulled the grips to clean, the grips were marked seconds. i'll take seconds every day if they all look like these.

Jonboy, why are you saying grips are not correct? Is there a football cut out or the round speed loader cut it? Those grips, if football cut out, Like the 4" in Phamer's post, would be period correct for your 18. I think the only reason those grips were called seconds is because it appears they stop slightly before the frame on the upper area of the grip. But, I, like you, would be proud to own them. They are very nice!!

stocks are not numbered to the gun. i know the target football could be special ordered with the gun. just saying that not the grips that came on the gun from the factory.

Well Targets are usually not numbered, but yes I agree that stocks marked seconds would not have been on your 18 when it left the factory. None of that would rain on my parade though. That is a beautiful, very desireable revolver that anyone would be proud to own and shoot! Enjoy it!!!!
