1854 45 Long Colt +P

Probably only a few of us 'old timers' remember the Zager and Evans song 'In The Year 2525'. I'm thinking it's about time to add a verse dedicated to the 45 Colt...seeing as how this short/long 'debate' (debacle) will likely still be getting [undeserved] attention in "The Year 2525"!
As an [in]appropriate aside, back about thirty or so years ago I wanted a 'stronger' and more 'durable' case for my 45 Colt Rossi 92 rifle (26"half Octagon) so I trimmed a bunch of 454 Casull cases back to 45 Colt length....I guess I can 'claim' to have created the 454 'Short' Casull....HMMM!
Far to many magazine pages (or are they 'clip pages'?) and reading time have been wasted on this 'Neverending Story'....hey, that would make for a good 'book title'...no?

P.S. I wonder, when they came out with the 45 Cowboy case, there was a 'reason' they didn't call it the '45 Short Colt'?...just saying!

P.P.S. While we're at it, this thread could be 'extended' by quite a few post by also 'discussing' grips vs. stocks on hand gun 'handles'!

The original 45 Schofield rim was too large in diameter for some colt's. The rim's would overlap. You could use it as a three shooter though. They made a short version with a rim that would work in both guns for the military. I don't know if they were sold on the civilian market.

So, just for the fun of it, I typed in clip on Duck Duck Go search engine. I had hopes of finding out a definitive answer as to what the difference between Clips and Magazines is. FAIL. Feel free to delete this, at BEST its completely no help at all.

I clicked on a link to the Cambridge Dictionary. Clip - a container that is fastened to a gun, from which bullets go into the gun to be fired
Cambridge Dict - Clip
SMART Vocabulary (their words not mine), Related words and phrases: banana clip, bump stock, butt, hammer, ... many more, DOES NOT INCLUDE Magazine.
Cambridge Dict. - Magazine a part of a gun in which cartridges are stored.
So the magazine is like the old school Powder magazine??
SMART Vocabulary for Magazine DOE NOT INCLUDE Clip.
Soooooo, LOGICALLY according to the Cambridge dictionary, Magazines and clips are totally and completely unrelated.
Ok, I looked at the Merriam - Webster and Dang the two are the same thing??
Webster's - Clip

I see no sense in going to a dictionary to find out about gun terms. They may be experts about words, but they are generally NOT experts about specific terms.

Try a REAL expert source: NRA: Clip vs Magazine
