Here is my 2½" 19-2. S/N K685324. It has some wear but I plan to shoot it. I think might have shipped with diamond grips.

That's a nice, early 2.5" 19-2.

Diamond centers were discontinued on magnas before the 2.5" 19 was introduced so it would not have come with them.

Looking at my copy of SCSW, it looks like your 19-2 was manufactured around 1966, and the 2 1/2" was introduced as a standard barrel length in 1966. Diamond grips went away in 1968, so I think it might have originally had diamond grips. Great gun, and one of the first 2 1/2", I would be proud to own it.

Very nice gun, 625. As far as the stocks go, I'd say it could have been shipped either way since the 2.5 was being introduced and the diamands were being discontinued around the same time. I don't think there was ever a hard stop and go at S&W from what I'm learning. But regardless, a very fine revolver indeed. Have you seen a set of stags or bone on these.....makes these beauties, prom worthy!

After researching more threads posted here, I would like to rescind my earlier post. The info I posted was listed in SCSW, but I believe that I took it out of context, and what I posted was incorrect. Please see the 5th post in this thread for the reasons that this 19-2 would not have come with diamond grips, http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1961-1980/223853-k-frame-diamond-grips.html . The SCSW is not always correct, nothing is absolute with S&W, other people have more knowledge and information than I do, and I will admit it when I am wrong.
snw19 357 has the correct answer.

Nice gun.

I've seen several guns that date around 1967 that should have diamond grips according to SCSW, but don't. My brother has a model 14-2 like that. According to the book, diamond grips weren't eliminated until model 14-3 in 1968.
