Looks like a nice KT.357 to me but about 2" to 3" too long to be a proper "Combat Magnum",
Considering the 6" K target guns were called just "Masterpiece" and 4" versions called "Combat Masterpiece" it kinda makes me wonder why they didnt call the 6" KT357 the "Magnum Masterpiece" ?
How early production is it ?

Thanks. I traded some car parts for it. Near as I can tell everything is original. Came with the correct box and bill of sale. It's the tightest S&W I have ever handled. I don't believe it was shot more than 20 times in its life.

That is actually a really nice looking Model 19. It is nice to find them in that condition.

The 6" Model 19-2 was introduced in 1963 ,
Your serial is about 1965 so quite early for a 6" "Combat Magnum"
Especially like that it is wearing its original diamond GA target grips.

Very nice. One just about identical to that one saved my bacon in a place far away and a time long ago. Wish I still had it.
Personally, I believe the 6-inch variation would have been much more popular with a ramp front sight blade instead of a Patridge. I bought one in 1970 and immediately sent it back to S&W and had a red ramp front and white outline rear sight installed.
I do think your Combat Magnum is an early and very nice example of this barrel length.

Bill the one you sent back wasnt nickle by any chance was it ?
I have a 6" 19-3 and love it but IMO this was the "Combat Magnum" and S&W missed the boat by not making a 5" and 3" version standard catalog items because a 6" Model 19 kinda contradicts the concept of small a light .357 and 6" K-38's and N frame .357's already existed for target use .
The one I sent to S&W was bright blue.

So, I took a much closer look at this revolver yesterday and I am starting to think more and more that it was only fired at the factory and hasn't been fired for the last 48-49 years. That, or the gentleman who owned it before me really, really knew how to take care of a safe queen.
