At a local pawn shop they have a somewhat beat up 19-3 with a 2 1/2" barrel, beat up after market stocks, most all of the blueing is intact, forcing cone is pristine as is the chambers and barrel, lock up is good with no end shake, I did not dry fire it.
So mechanically it seems good, no pitting but lots of minor scratches. No box or original stocks.
Normally I would pass but this is the first snub nose I've come across and I have been wanting a snubby for some time. The condition doesn't bother me to much as I collect shooters, still if was cleaner it would be mine now.

Price is $695 but they did say they take reasonable offers.

Appreciate any thoughts.

I'd want it for no more than $600 OTD. The 19 snubby is a favourite of mine.

============================

That is exactly what I have in mind to offer.

I should of pulled the stocks off and got a better look. I assumed it's a square butt but now am wondering if the ugly combats are covering a round butt?

I agree... offer 550 and see what happens. I think 19 snubs are round butt, that said, I have seen a couple of 66 snub's with SB's... I can't bet on what may have come out of S&W.

I know where there is a clean nickel plate 19-3-2.5".

For sale near here that is all original and very clean. It can be had for seven bills. If I did not have one already, I would likely pick it up. But that is all the way on the other side of the country from you.

A shorty 19 in my neck of the woods would sell for 650 easy, even with the after market stocks. Original stocks would probably be 100 dollar-ish, you might think about offering 500 bills without the stocks that are currently on it, then you would have a pretty good deal there IMO....

I offered $350 plus a 1930 38 special M&P that is in good condition, better condition then the 19-3.
They valued the M&P at $400 which is hire then I value it, and said they would give me $200 for the M&P, I was prepared to offer $400 plus the M&P but they said they were firm at $700 for the 19.
So I walked away.
Thanks for everyone's help.
