I have an opportunity to buy a 1974 vintage, 19-3, 4 inch bbl, blue, with original box and tools. I'm being told is 98% (Sorry i don't have pictures to post, but will do so if i buy it).

asking $575

couple questions-

1) thoughts on the price?

2) not sure which grips are on it (target or Magma). Can anyone tell me what the correct grips would be for this 1974 vintage 19-3?

thanks-

Is $575 too much for a 4" 19-3?

That depends if you're buying it or selling it.

It should say on the box end label if the gun originally came with target grips. $575.00 is top dollar for that gun, at least where I am. I'd think that $400 - $450 would be more reasonable. Of course, some people are willing to pay that much if it's really nice. I wouldn't buy it for that price unless I really wanted it and was looking for one for a long time.

19-3's just aren't that hard to find....yet.

Well,I listed one here on the classifieds last week for that amount. ANIB with tools and all docs, nickel finish. It sold in 17 minutes. Expect to pay top dollar for high condition guns. Otherwise,do with less for less money. :)

Assuming it's 98% with matching box and tools, I don't think the price is too out of line. But I think I'd offer $500 and go from there. I have a 19-3 with matching box and papers, but no tools. I would put mine at 98% also. If I remember right I paid $500 or $550. Mine came with target stocks. If the box has the label on it, it should say which stocks came on it.

Dare I say it here on the S&W forum, but gunlovingirl's finish is absolutely beautiful. It looks like Colt Royal Blue.
