What would be the correct stocks for a 19-4 6 inch 1980. Thanks for the info. It has targets on it, I don't think these are correct. Would it have come with combats or dimond.

If you post the serial we can figure out what year it is first as your title says its a 19-3 but the body of the text says 19-4.

A 6" 19-3 would have most likely come with checkered football relieved (non diamond) targets, 19-4's had football relieved grips until around 1980(ish) when they changed to the speed loader relief cut GA targets.

-3 0r -4? I would say speed loader cut out Goncalo Alves for the -4 and relief for the -3. At least thats the way my guns are.

I just found a 19-4 and a 28-3

I think the above posts are right on the money. I just found a 19-4 6" and a 28-3 6" at our local gun show. The 19-4 has K/L GA non-diamond targets with the football cutout. Indecently the 28-3 had the same stocks, just a bit larger version for the N-Frame. I put some Goodyears on the 28 to test it out.
I feel lucky to be able to have a range and shoot at my house without bothering anyone. God Bless Vermont.
19-4 6" and 28-3 6"
158 SWC & 158 JHP (I even recovered a few from the snow, no damage)
Standing off hand 20yds (except for 2 groups that were from a bench rest for calibration).

19-4

Sorry I was asking about a 19-4, and had a 3 in my hand at the time. I am thinking it's a 520xxx SN. thanks for the info.

520xxx is not a Model 19 (dash anything) serial number.

Im not sure why people are afraid to post serial numbers when we post them every day on the collectors forum to establish ship dates....???

Your serial should include some sort of "K" ....
For example I have two Model 19-4's, serial 60K9548 and serial 71K7352....
Notice that I am not afraid to post the whole serial ?
