19-3 question

i have a friend that has a snub nose 19-3,it has a small opening and a small pin on the frame at the rear of the trigger guard.does anyone know what it does and is it something from s&w factory?my friend did not know and i have never seen one like that before,i really could not see what its purpose would be.thanks curt.

Read the thread "686 frame cut for overtravel stop" by dpsix on this page. I think you seeing the same trigger stop. Someone even has a nice picture of it on a 19-3.
