Hello everyone, I am a new member and this is my first post, which of course, is a question.

I have a mint 19-3, full target with a 6-inch barrel with box, papers, etc. that is fantastic. The previous owner, however, polished the exposed surfaces of the trigger and hammer. I would like replace them with the original case-hardened parts. What is the best way to do this? Does S&W still have these parts? Does it need to go back to S&W or can a local gunsmith do the work? Is there another source for original S&W parts?

I understand S&W no longer has any case colored hammers & triggers. They were discontinued quite some time ago. There are some sources for parts to be restored to case color, it isn't real cheap, hopefully someone who remembers the companies will post an answer, or you could call Dave Chicoine, at Old West Gunsmiths in Georgia, and he could tell you. He does outstanding restoration work, but I think he outsources this work. You could also keep your eye's open for K Frame parts at gun shows, on this forum, or on on line locations such as Gunbroker or Auction Arms. In most cases you would need a gunsmith to "fit" the parts. One seller of "parts" which may have them is Poppert's Gun Parts Main Menu. Good luck.

Thank you, both, for your replies. I'll be contacting the folks that were mentioned.
