My GF just got her concealed carry permit and I am going to by her a shield but first I'll need to free up some cash. Hate to do it but I may sell my 4" blue 19-3, really like this gun and shoot it very well but haven't shot it in years. Good condition, has a little wear on the end of barrel, Pachmayr rubber grips ( I have the original wood grips somewhere but haven't found them yet) ser#4K23314. How much should I be asking for it??

Generous of you sir, to buy your lady friend a Shield. But remember that G.F.'s come and go, but a model 19 is forever. Think about it.

Ok, depending on your location and the condition of your M-19, it should be a quick sell between $550.00 - $600.00.

Wow, you are a good boyfriend. Giving up a 19-3 for a Shield! Pinned and recessed and a four-inch barrel at that. I'd want 2 Shields for mine and still wouldn't be happy with the trade.

Another thing to consider is she may not want or like a Shield. Take her to multiple gun stores and ranges. Let her handle as many guns as she wishes. Let her shoot multiple guns. Then buy her what she wants.

By that time, you can save enough money to buy her what she wants without selling the 19.

About 45 years ago, just out of Army, had a girl friend. Bought
her expensive leather coat for Christmas. She bought me a
H&R pull pin 22 revolver. I broke up with her shortly thereafter.
Moral of story: Wemen are a dime a dozen, quality revolvers are
hard to come by.

500. - 800. Condition and extras affect price.
Everything comes and goes in life.
Buy her want makes both of you happy, money cannot buy that.

However if it's in good shape I'd keep it. Also see if she can shoot/range rent a few choices before buying.

Already been to the range and tried every 9mm they had, narrowed down to shield and LP9s. So far the LP9s is at the top of the list....feels better in her hand and she shoots it a little better. One more trip to the range to shoot them both today then it's her decision. Probably going to keep the revolver, don't think I can bring myself to part with it.

I guess this is true for Houses of Ill Repute. Quality women are even more rare than the guns we treasure. I wouldn't trade my wife for all the rare guns in the world. She's the ultimate keeper.

While a touching post... I have to say that, if given the chance, I would trade your wife for that 19-3, straight up! No offense meant.

Yep, this old girl (19-4) has endured many a relationship and likely a few more. To my eye there's nothing sexier than a 2.5" 19 that's been around the block a few times. :-) Depending on the local market, $550 - $700 for a shooter, up to $1100 for a pristine example with box and papers.
