I have a 19-3 in 4" Bbl and am interested in a 27-2 also, but in a little shorter Bbl, maybe 3 1/2"
Probably a dumb question in that I know the 19 is a K frame and the 27 is an N frame, but ... what other differences than frame weight would I note ?
Does the N Framed 27 feel much different when shooting it .... and if so, is that only when in .357?

Only thing I'm sure of is; I like them both ,,,, just trying to justify to myself why I need another short Bbl .357 (beyond my 19-3).
Maybe I already answered my own question .... just because I like them ?
Help me justify this 2nd one, the 27-2 in 3.5" Bbl
Thanks,
Ken

The 27-2 w/ 3 1/2" barrel is definitely heavier than the 19-3 w/ 4" barrel. Great for handling those Mag loads. Not so great for carrying. Different balance altogether but a great shooter. I've never worried about justifying a gun to myself... just to my wife. If you want it buy it.

The N-Frame will have a different feel because the grip is bigger and it weighs more. The added weight will dampen recoil somewhat, although I find recoil in a K or N Frame .357 Magnum revolver to be a non-issue for me.
I have a 2 1/2" M66, a 4" M19 and a 4" M27. The short M66 is a great carry gun.I have carried the M19 and the M27, but not so much. They're all great guns and fun to shoot. The 3.5" M27 is a classic gun, and it just looks cool to boot.
Consider permission granted.
(You're welcome).:D

I have had a 4-inch Model 19 before, and I have a Model 27-2, and I would take the 27-2 over the 19 any day of the week.

The 27 is a great gun-I owned a 28 in the past. The problem for me is that the grip on the N Frame is just too big for me. I prefer the K Frame.
YMMV.

I love the 27s and 28s. I like the low recoil and the grip size. Not having a 27 is a good reason to buy one, and not having two is a good reason to buy another, and -- oh well, you get my point.

You guys are all SICK, SICK, SICK .... I can tell, because, you think exactly the same way I do

Sounds like you need a 27 in 3 1/2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 3/8 inch variants, just so you can make a fair comparison. You might also want to get a 6 inch 19, a 4 and 6 inch 28, a 4 and 6 inch 66, and the 4, 5, 6, and 6 1/2 inch 38/44 Heavy Duties. You may also need more of the K frame .357's, and several of the J frame .357's too. Then there is also the potential of a real need for larger calibers.......one of each

'Cause if you don't... I will :D:D:D:D:D It's a sickness I tell ya!!;)
Pre 27... 27.... 27-2..

If you can afford to shoot 357's all day then get yourself one of each. The 19 will not handle some 357's very well, but it's lighter and balances better in the shooters hands. The 27 will push out just about everything you feed it, and it will keep going.

The 27 is bigger, heavier, and stronger. The 19 was intended to be a top drawer service revolver and the 27 is the top of line deluxe pistol.

I have a M19 and a M 28 (same as a M27 but with a duller finish) and I like the M19 better for shooting the 38/357 cartridges.

Now don't get me wrong, I do like the N frame, but feel becasue of the extra bulk and weight, it would be better served as a 44 Mag. or 45 Colt. I have often thought of converting it to a 45 Colt, but the expense of doing so makes little sense to me, so I keep it the way it is and once or twice a year I'll pound away with some heavy 357 Mag. shooting.

:)

The M- 19/66 (K Frame) is one of the perfect examples of the carry a lot shoot seldom service weapon, I carried one of three for 27 years and never regretted it. The M-27 is just the opposite. I enjoy shooting my, only, M 27 with full power loads than I do my M-66.

As others have suggested, in a perfect world all of us would have both, so if you can swing it get the M-27 3 1/2".

The real difference between the two is about $400.00----unless you get real lucky. JMHO

The 19 is just the 27 shrunk (and less fancy). Anything good about the 19 will be great in the 27, it's the land of milk and honey! The 27 will dampen the recoil better and if you get a 3.5" it is not bad, at least to me, to carry. The 19 will always be better to conceal. The 19/66 and 27 are great complimentary arms.

I like my 586 L-frame for carry, the 27 is a great shooting gun with 357's but a little heavy for me to carry
