19-3 ?

local shop has a nice 19-3 4" in chrome,but it has gold plated hammer and trigger.Did this come from the factory like this?I can get for a really good price.If i do how hard would it be to find replacement hammer and trigger? sorry i dont have any pics.I like it but dont like the gold hammer and trigger and would replace them unless i shouldn't.

It's probably nickel rather than chrome, and it may or may not be original to the gun. The trigger and hammer were not gold plated by the factory. Original case hardened hammers and triggers frequently come up for sale in the classifieds section below, but unless you're familiar with "gunsmithing" a S&W revolver you might do well to have them replaced by a gunsmith.

Since the hammer and trigger have been gold plated, someone has "been inside" that gun. Before you buy it, make sure it functions properly. Depending on the price, it might be a good "shooter" gun.

I'm pretty sure the gold on this 2.5" 4-screw M19 aren't factory.

Ok i got this 19-3 4inch just like snw19_357's 2 1/2 above from a dealer for $388 out the door.My friend is a good S&W judge rate's it at 95% +,trigger pull is sweat was worked on.He is pissed because he looked at saturday but did not ask for a price on it.
Would anybody know when it left the factory? ser #4K120XX

Gold plating is EXTREMELY thin and will eventually wear off with use. Maybe if you take it to a gunsmith, or take the offending parts to a jeweler, you could get the gold coloring polished off without cutting into the original metal of the parts? A jeweler may even have chemicals that will remove the gold plating with out putting it to a buffing wheel.

If you have someone remove the gold, they will have to disassemble the gun. As long as they will be removed then reassembled anyways, I'll bet you can find someone on this Forum who would gladly trade a good serviceable hammer & trigger for your golden beauties.

KML, SCofS&W shows that serial numbers: 4K1628-4K54104 were shipped in 1973. Hope this helps.
