19-4 front sight

A friend of mine has a model 19-4 with a 2 1/2 bbl. The front sight is just a ramp with no insert. How common are these?

More common than the ones with a RR.

Since it's introduction, a Model 19 came standard with plain black (blued) front and rear sights.

I use red nail polish on mine, it helps at the range and wont hurt the gun. In fact I just spent an hour applying it tonight

I have used orange fluorescent enamel. I think it holds a little better than nail polish. And the 'red' ramps use a very orange insert.
