19-4 value question...

Hey guys.

I picked up a 4" Nickel Model 19-4. The gun dates to 1980.

Overall it's in great shape at about 85%-90%.

What would you guys say the value is on this pistol?

The picture makes it look like it's covered in scratches, but it's not. It's covered in finger prints.

I have a Blue 19-4 1980 in 99% shape I turned down $600. In nickel maybe $700 to the right buyer with the correct grips ( by the way I have a spare set)

I'm hard pressed to come up with a value because the condition is hard to determine from the one photo. It looks like it's dirty and smudged and the condition is probably better than you estimate. I'm trying to look past the smudges and I can imagine a really nice revolver maybe more like 95%??? There's a lot of information about cleaning up nickel guns at this forum. If 85% then maybe a value of $350-400 but if it is really more like 95% then $550 and with correct nice grips add $50 - $100.

If the gun cleans up well, I'd say $600, given it's got no options but the nickel. Proper grips, add $100. BTW, if you decide to part with it, give me a PM. I've got a thing for 19-4s, and I'm looking for one in nickel.

Sorry to tell you, but the grips have no value, they are the cheapest rubber grips you can buy, and they are ugly to boot. In-fact the grips detract from the overall value of the revolver.

I was mentioning that I was interested in buying the correct grips from him. Honestly, I like the feel of the hogue grips that are on it now and I'm planning on leaving them on when I shoot it.

My Bad. I nice set of either, factory, magna or target grips should run anywhere between $50.00 - $75.00. Several companies offer very nice grips in the same price range. Or for $150.00 you can get a great pair of stag grips.
