Curious as to what a model 19-5 4in with original box is worth. I know it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it grasshopper. Gun is in excellent condition. Asking because I'm considering trading for a Sig semi auto Legion handguns. Haven't listed it yet and want to get some opinions here.TIA

Don't do it

I foolishly sold my first gun a model 19 for something (can't remember) and traded it off for something else. It is the one gun I regret selling to this day.

Sig makes the Legion now
Save up for one

S&W does not make them like that anymore
Keep it and shoot it

But if you really want a Legion…
Gun stores are notorious for giving you way under market value
You could sell it on here as folks would appreciate this firearm. Then use the funds towards a Sig
Guessing maybe $750-800

Your 19-5 isn't pinned and recessed so it's value is modest, likely between $500-700.

It doesn't have some of the more recent "improvements" Smith has implemented in recent revolvers such as frame mounted firing pin, the multiple piece barrel and lock. The absence of these features is a plus.

I have the exact same gun. Much as I like it I wouldn't hesitate a minute to make that trade. The Sig 229 or 226 Legion is top of their line and will last forever, mags are reasonable and available. Joe
