19-5 Pricing Question

I've just run across a 19-5 in a local shop. I don't have a 19 and would like to have one. This one isn't exactly what I'm looking for(I'd prefer a 19-4 or earlier in 4") but I'd definitely be happy with it.

It's a 6" barrel. There is some wear to the bluing on the muzzle, as well as a little bit of a turn ring on the cylinder. It's very tight, and has virtually no flame cutting in the top strap or any indication of forcing cone erosion(making me think it probably hasn't been shot with many magnums, or much at all). It has nice condition factory target grips.

The price on it is $395-does that sound fair for the gun I've described?

I would buy it at $396 out the door price if it were here in Wisconsin.

Model 19s aren't found around here very often. Seems like people know a good thing when they have one and aren't selling or trading them in. $395 would be a good number for that gun here and would get snapped up quickly. If you like it, buy it. You may not get another at that price and it will likely increase in value over time.

Now at the asking price it's a good deal, so buy it a keep it as trading fodder.

I agree with Old Bear. There's nothing as sweet as total satisfaction with a purchase, and the inaedquacies of an item tend to linger in the back of your mind, especially if you are a perfectionist. That seems like a really good price for the gun if it's in good overall condition and it would make a good tradeable gun if you ultimately don't want it.

Personally, I wish I'd gotten my ideal guns first off rather than ones of opportunity. At that price though, there's no losing.
